Glauque

Five boys from Namur in Belgium have been reinventing Francophone hip hop over the past two years, and hardly anyone beyond their country’s borders has taken note.

Strange, considering that singles such as the radiant, dawn-like “ID8” or the rousing, electro-heavy “Plane” could easily qualify as international surprise hits. Their compatriots have clearly understood this and allowed Glauque to lay down memorable performances at Dour Festival and Les Ardentes Festival. On stage, the five-piece is able to communicate the power of its songs with a captivating lightness that somehow renders the tracks both danceable and pensive. If you want to stand out nowadays, it’s not enough to master different styles and sounds – you actually have to combine them into a meaningful mélange. And that’s exactly what Glauque manage with ease.
