Glintsal

Indie hip-hop. Chopped soul & 80s samples mixed with heavy-hitting drums, synth-angeldust and humorous soundbites. Back-to-back bangers with influences from Anderson Paak. and Dilla to The Beatles and Daft Punk.

On GLINTSAL 1, rapper/singer Glints and producer/dj FAISAL AKA music's Ed & Eddy join forces for an album that brings out the best in both of them.

Together, the brothers with British and Moroccan backgrounds respectively have been presenting Abattoir Anvers, the only hip-hop show on Belgian national radio (Studio Brussel), for about 4 years. There, they have already welcomed guests such as 50Cent, Loyle Carner, Pregnant Guy, Faberyayo and Sef, as well as many young talents.

Both are members of the eponymous Antwerp collective Abattoir Anvers, which was founded in a former halal slaughterhouse where the gentlemen lived, worked and made radio.

Back in 2020, the two released the single ‘Some Time Alone’ together, which made it clear that their musical collaboration should also be explored further.

So when the stars were right (and their schedules allowed), they crawled straight into the studio, resulting in GLINTSAL 1: an album full of back-to-back bangers with influences ranging from Anderson Paak. and Dilla and all the way back to The Beatles, to Daft Punk.

On the tracks the two wrote and composed together, FAISAL handled the production while Glints handles the bars and vocals.

Chopped soul & 80s samples are mixed with with heavy-hitting drums, synth-angeldust and humorous soundbites. The result is an original indie hip-hop sound you must hear.

Visually, the LP is accompanied by a manga comic created by Abattoir Anvers in-house cartoonist/graphic designer/painter Iljen Put. In the comic, we see two clones who look like FAISAL and Glints waking up in a dystopian future where a nuclear disaster seems to have taken place. Each single will have its own GLINTSAL cover and the comic itself will come with the vinyl.
