Liv Andrea Hauge Trio
EJN invites Liv Andrea Hauge trio! This project is the winner of the 3rd EJN Zenith Award for emerging artists. The trio consists of Fredrik Luhr Dietrichson on bass, August Glännestrand on drums, and Liv Andrea Hauge on piano and compositions. Three young yet established musicians in the Norwegian jazz scene. In this vibrant new jazz trio, pianist and composer Liv Andrea Hauge collaborates with Georgia Wartel Collins on bass and August Glännestrand on drums. Their music embodies an innovative approach within the classic piano trio format. Hauge's compositions prioritize groove, simple yet melodious tunes, and spontaneous interplay among the musicians. Each piece offers ample room for improvisation, with the music unfolding dynamically in response to the energy shared between performers and audience. Drawing from the rich tapestry of modern piano jazz, the trio's sound is deeply influenced by luminaries such as the Paul Bley Trio, Maria Kannegaard Trio, Moskus, and Kit Downs. Since their debut in the summer of 2022, the trio has embarked on an exciting journey, releasing two albums, touring extensively across Norway and Europe, and earning prestigious accolades, including selection for Jazzahead 2024 and the esteemed Zenith Award of 2024.
EJN Zenith Award
The EJN Zenith Award was created in 2019 to shine a spotlight on a remarkable European ensemble or solo project working in creative jazz and improvised music. The winner is selected from the carefully curated 12 acts performing at the 12 Points festival, all coming from different European countries. The Award celebrates the ensemble’s ability to break musical boundaries while demonstrating an original approach to performance and a potential for a strong, ongoing international career. The name “Zenith Award” was adopted to reflect the level of excellence in the winning act, and its capacity to show a way forward for the future of creative music in Europe.
