During The Belgian Music Week, award shows are pouring in, including at the Ancienne Belgique. On Monday, January 27, and Tuesday, January 28, the folk & worldwide music sector will come together to celebrate its rich scene during the Flanders Folk Awards and Belgian Worldwide Music Night.
These annual events provide a stage for both established names and emerging talents within traditional music, with exceptional live performances by Snaarmaarwaar, BLIET, Bamako Express, NENA, Soledad Kalza & Sina Kienou, Peixe e Limão, Gaïsha, and DJ Kokonuts. The awards are a true tribute to musicians and projects that have made a difference over the past year (Best Live Band/Outstanding Live Performance, Best Album, Horizon/Promising Talent, Lifetime Achievement Award/Career, and Notable Initiative Press/Promo).
International Visitor Program
The cherry on top? In collaboration with our Walloon partners Wallonie-Bruxelles Musiques, Ancienne Belgique, and both networks, we are inviting an international delegation to discover the rich music scene in Belgium. We expect about 8 music professionals active across Europe, including from Austria, Spain, France, Sweden, and Norway.
We are organizing a musical walk through Brussels for them, speed meetings with artists, and various networking opportunities for the entire sector (including a dinner at Darna) as well as a panel on international working and touring.
These events are a meeting place for anyone who holds a warm spot for the folk & worldwide scene. Whether you're a passionate music lover, an artist, or a professional from the industry, this is the occasion to come together and celebrate the value of this music culture.
Organized by AB, BWMN, Flanders Folk Network, VI.BE and WBM.
